Specialist nose, sinus and rhinoplasty interests

My practice focuses particularly on chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps, recurrent sinus infections, smell disturbance, nasal obstruction and structural nasal problems. My adult surgical practice includes endoscopic sinus surgery (including image-guided and frontal sinus surgery), septoplasty, inferior turbinate reduction, functional septorhinoplasty, rhinoplasty and surgical shaving of rhinophyma.

In selected frontal and/or ethmoid sinus cases, I use steroid-eluting stents to help maintain patency, keeping the sinus openings open during healing after surgery.

In October 2026, I was part of the first UK team to use Medtronic’s Stealth AXiS™ ENT Navigation System for endoscopic sinus surgery in NHS practice.

ClariFix cryotherapy for intractable rhinorrhoea

I offer ClariFix cryotherapy for intractable rhinorrhoea: persistent watery nasal discharge that has not responded adequately to appropriate medical treatment. The procedure uses controlled cooling to target nerves involved in excessive nasal secretion.

I assess the cause of your symptoms and discuss whether ClariFix is appropriate for you, including the expected benefits, possible risks and alternatives to treatment.

LATERA implants for nasal sidewall and nasal valve collapse

I offer LATERA absorbable nasal implants for nasal sidewall collapse that contributes to obstruction at the external nasal valve, internal nasal valve, or both. The implant supports the nasal sidewall with the aim of improving airflow.

I assess the cause of your nasal blockage and discuss whether an implant, other structural nasal surgery or non-surgical treatment is most appropriate. Suitability, expected benefits and implant-related risks are discussed individually.

Eustachian balloon tuboplasty for obstructive eustachian tube dysfunction

I perform eustachian balloon tuboplasty, also called balloon dilation of the eustachian tube, for obstructive eustachian tube dysfunction in carefully selected patients. This procedure aims to improve the opening of the tube that helps ventilate the middle ear and equalise pressure.

Before considering surgery, I assess the cause of your symptoms, relevant examination and test findings, and your response to appropriate medical treatment. I discuss the expected benefits, limitations, risks and alternatives as part of an individual treatment plan.

Surgical shaving of rhinophyma

Rhinophyma causes thickening and enlargement of the skin of the nose and is often associated with rosacea. I offer surgical shaving of rhinophyma, removing excess tissue to improve the contour of the nose.

I will assess whether surgery is suitable and discuss the expected result, healing, aftercare and risks. Rhinophyma can recur, so further treatment may sometimes be needed.

ENT care for children and young people

I see children and young people with common ear, nose and throat conditions. My paediatric ENT procedures include tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, grommet insertion, nasal cautery, inferior turbinate reduction, tongue-tie division and preauricular sinus excision. I also offer microsuction or ear-wax removal in suitable children, and assess structural nasal obstruction in older children and teenagers.

I perform endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery for selected patients with tear-drainage obstruction, including selected children, jointly with my ophthalmology colleague, Mr Mike Mota, who has subspecialist training in oculoplastic surgery.

My approach to ENT and rhinology care

My aim is to provide a careful, evidence-based and individualised approach to care. I place particular importance on understanding each patient's symptoms and priorities, explaining the available options clearly, and ensuring that surgery is recommended only where I believe it is likely to provide meaningful benefit.

East Kent One Airway Biologics MDT

In my NHS practice at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, I co-established the East Kent One Airway Biologics multidisciplinary team with my consultant Immunology colleague, Dr Leman Mutlu.

The team supports the assessment and management of patients with severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, including consideration of specialist biologic treatment where appropriate. This work reflects my commitment to coordinated care and careful consideration of the medical and surgical options available to each patient.

Outside medicine, I am a husband and father of three, and I value spending quality time with my family. I am also a keen car enthusiast, with a particular appreciation for automotive design, engineering and performance. My other interests include music and live concerts, keeping fit at the gym, football and supporting charitable fundraising.
